Hydrogen generation based on methane reforming requires an
extra step to separate the hydrogen product from other product
gases (CO and CO2). QuestAir's hydrogen
purification technology offers a compact and cost-effective
gas separation solution to reformer-based hydrogen refueling
stations. Size and footprint are extremely important for hydrogen
refueling systems that will have to be retrofitted to existing
gas station forecourts which have limited space available
for hydrogen generation and purification. QuestAir's current
technology results in an estimated 70-80 per cent volume reduction,
relative to conventional PSA technology.
To date, QuestAir has sold several of its first generation
HyQuestor® units to the operators of hydrogen refueling
demonstrations, including a unit at the Sunline Transit facility
in Palm Desert California, and a hydrogen refueling station
operated by Las Vegas Transit. QuestAir will be launching
its new first generation product, the QuestAir H-3200, in 2003, to
service the emerging market for hydrogen refueling demonstration
projects.
In the long-term, QuestAir will also be developing hydrogen
purification products for larger hydrogen refueling stations
based on the fast-cycle QuestAir H-6100 product platform. These products
will deliver footprint and capital cost advantages to the
end customer.
